Locking in DekTek Concrete deck tiles on the outside perimeter of Roof Decks
No matter the type of DekTek Tile installation—roof decks, elevated decks, patios, porches, or more—a mechanically fastened edge trim border is required along the outside perimeter of the space. There are several ways to achieve this, and the best type of edge trim will depend on your specific application and desired look.
PARAPET WALL
If your roof deck includes a wall or parapet wall, no additional edge trim is needed, making this type of roof deck application the easiest to install DekTek Tile.
DekTek Tile Roof Decks Installations Without a Parapet Wall
For roof decks without a parapet wall, it is essential to install a mechanically fastened edge trim that locks in the tiles without puncturing the waterproof membrane. There are various options available based on your specific application. Below are a few solutions that contractors have successfully used:
METAL DRIP EDGE OPTION (FOR EXISTING ROOF DECKS ONLY)
Below is a video demonstrating one of many options for securing DekTek's concrete deck tiles on the outside edge of a roof deck. This method may be a little more advanced but it's an option that does not penetrate the waterproof membrane. (Please note, this video is hosted on Dropbox):

SIDE MOUNT RAILING
Another option for locking in the concrete deck tiles is by installing a side-mount railing and using it to fasten a mechanically fastened edge trim, such as anodized aluminum. The edge trim would be secured between the side-mount railing and the tiles on the roof deck.
TOP MOUNT RAILING
For roof decks with top-mount railing options, another solution involves fastening an edge trim to the top-mount rail:
EDGING PROFILE WITH DRAINAGE (NEW CONSTRUCTION ONLY)
